The tumble drying of terry articles fluffs up the pile helping to retain their new look and drying capability, however, over-drying can degrade the cotton used to weave the towels and will gradually make the towels thinner. The following elements increase wear and shrinkage during tumble drying:

  1. Excess machine loading
  2. Drying at too high a temperature – ie: rapid drying.
  3. Over drying – (optimum to +/- 8.5% moisture).
